Can you use `note` or `fixme` keys instead of `description` or `name=mine shafts?`? The latter two are meant for end users of the map, not mappers. https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:description

A bit late to the party on this one, but the intent is to convey to the end user not other mappers that these are mine shafts or probably mine shafts, (I originally proposed "description"!). Using name when it generic is arguable, though OS certainly do; I can't see any problem with description. Final intent is to have an app that alerts interesting features when walking.

The recent changes in https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/138561473 seem questionable. Do you agree with the changes to the tags?

Thanks for following this up. No I don't really agree - I see the intent but feel it confusing and unnecessarily difficult to apply cartography. I am from this area. The area is a boulder field as a result of former glacial action, either erratics (carried from elsewhere) or the underscouring and collapse of a very local escarpment. My 'boulders' tag is properly descriptive both to native english speakers and I hope in translation BUT is not part of Map Features. 'stone' is part of Map Features but relates to a single boulder/stone/rock. The mapper has tried to deal with this by a adding field=yes which can be confused with a farm field ... and not part of Map Features.

Once again, this seems to be a pattern of changing rare tags into more common tags, even if valuable information is lost. I noticed that the natural=boulders tag was in use (although rarely) for a variety of locations like this one, and that it seemed appropriate. Unfortunately, the user that made this change has erased the natural=boulders tag from OSM with a set of similar changes.
Sounds like the 138561473 changeset could be reverted.
