Shun Long Road or Airport Road are clearly not "link roads" - they are itself a separate highway

1. You haven't replied on previous discussions, which holds some consensus among others
2. I have repeated repeatedly that the purpose of this is to handle non-Expressway connections to Expressway. `=motorway_link` is the best compromise to handle this. -

I also have repeated that it's misleading to tag highway=motorway_link on long stretch of roads which are clearly not motorways. Shun Long Road is not a motorway and it is a separate highway to any of the motorways around the area. It is just a normal road which connects the HK port to Lantau Island.

The definition of `=motorway_link` is that it connects to `=motorway`. Would you explain to us how this doesn't fit.
-
Comment from Kovoschiz
There is no requirement for the `=motorway_link` itself to be in a `=motorway` area.
-
Comment from Kovoschiz
I myself dislike `=motorway` and `=motorway_link`, but this is the legacy.

Shun Long Road is not a link. It is a distributor road. Therefore tagging it as *_link is inappropriate.
For Airport Road, it is neither a link nor a distributor road. It is an extension of the motorway itself.
-
Comment from Kovoschiz
One may further argue `=motorway` can follow the point of last diverge as well, extending beyond the `=motorway`-area limit. This is debatable, as what you may object here. That's one of the reasons `=motorway_link`

Similar cases include Hung Tin Road, Tsing Tin Road, Po Shun Road, Long Tin Road, etc.

Comment from Kovoschiz
Please don't bring official-only "distributor" terminology with no bearing here. They have no influence on functional consideration.
Your choice is:
1. Extend as `=motorway`, which is misleading on Expressway area
2. Extend as `=primary`, which is misleading on the connection to Expressway.
Thus `=motorway_link` is chosen. It fits the definition of `=motorway_link` on 2, and offer a compromise on 1. -
Comment from Kovoschiz
Please don't mention non-Expressway connections like Tsing Tin Rd. `=trunk_link` is another matter, complicated by `=*_link` itself.
-
Comment from 小智智
=motorway_link is also misleading here as "Shun Long Road is not a link".
-
Comment from Kovoschiz
1, Hung Tin Rd can be reasonably treated as a entrance/exit at the end.
2. Long Tin Rd doesn't connect to Yuen Long Hwy only.
3. Po Shun Rd connects to non-Tunnel Cross-Bay Link as well. -
Comment from Kovoschiz
1. You haven't responded on the rest of the balance of factors above.
2. As I mentioned, `=*_link` itself is flawed, but we have to work with it. Same with `=motorway` and `=motorway_link` to me, -
Comment from 小智智
I don't think that it's correct to put highway=*_link on a road which is not a pure link. And there is no requirement that highway=trunk/primary/secondary/etc. must serve non motorway traffic. Moreover, it is also possible to have classification change in the middle of the driveway, like the southern end of route 1.

Comment from Kovoschiz
1. I don't disagree, but it is the least worse. The alternative would be `=motorway` worldwide
2. The "requirement" is `=motorway_link` for `=motorway` connections.
2. As I said, `=trunk` and `=trunk_link` is another matter. `=motorway` and `=motorway_link` has special meaning -

Shun Long Road is a link road. It acts as the slip/link road for and between North Lantau Highway, Tuen Mun Chek Lap Kok Tunnel and local destinations in HZMB Hong Kong Port and Chek Lap Kok. It just so happened to have a name and be very long in Hong Kong standard.

Also it may possibly seen as a split interchange

`*_link=` having street names is not uncommon either.
