OpenStreetBrowser: New category: Pedestrian footways

Are you planning something similar for cycleways?

Maybe. I already tried it once, but cycleways are even more complex than footways with cycleway=opposite_lane, cycleway:left / :right, bicycle:oneway, …

I’m planning to add a ‘cycleway directions’ category, though, which shows the directions similar to the OpenCycleMap rendering.

OpenStreetBrowser: Dates (and date ranges) in Dutch

Sorry, I do not understand Dutch, please continue in English (or German).

If I understand (rather Google Translate), “Datum van bouw” would mean the construction date. That would be more fitting, that’s right. But in other context, ‘start_date’ (which is the tag used) would mean when the amenity was opened, so a more general tag would be fitting.

Anyway, if you want to contribute to OpenStreetBrowser’s translation, you are welcome to join: https://weblate.openstreetbrowser.org/

‘start_date’ in question is here: http://weblate.openstreetbrowser.org/translate/openstreetbrowser/osm-tags/nl/?checksum=4b262e037d892352

OpenStreetBrowser: New "Quality Control" categories

I would not say that a “subject:wikidata” is sufficient for a memorial, because the idea of the category is, to show media of the memorial - and this can be loaded from (either) image, wikimedia_commons or wikidata. subject:wikidata does not have information about the memorial in question.

On the other hand you are right, that having a “subject:wikidata” is recommended for memorials. I’ll add a text pointing out the presence of this tag.

OGD Wikimedia OpenStreetMap Checker

OpenStreetBrowser v4.7: Width/Offset of lines in world meters instead of pixels

Hi!

Thanks for your feedback :-) Yeah, the approach clearly has limitations, as it always uses the scale at the map center. But for high zoom levels this should be sufficient.

Btw, the logic is also present in the module overpass-layer (which is used by OpenStreetBrowser). You can use this to create overlays based on OpenStreetMap data.

OpenStreetBrowser: New translation system

I checked Transifex, but as I noticed that I have to pay 139$/month minimum, I stopped looking. I didn’t know, that OpenStreetBrowser could become part of the OpenStreetMap organisation on Transifex (and use it for free).

Anyway, I love Open Source Software (one of the reasons I love OpenStreetMap), so I have a bias there …

It would be interesting to share some translations anyway … I will look into this.

New category "Swimming and Bathing" in OpenStreetBrowser

Now also includes amenity=shower

Rwanada: A Country on the Move

I’ve never mapped Rwanda nor have I ever travelled the country. I just read your interesting blog entry :-)

I don’t know what people mapping Rwanda need, but the least I can think of, is to let a GPS receiver running while travelling the country and uploading these GPX tracks to the OSM homepage (find the link above).

You can also help by writing map notes (there’s an icon on the right side of the map on the OSM homepage) when you find things wrong / missing, so mappers can handle these issues. Or you can map it yourself :-)

Have fun!
