Hey freebeer. I added that name there because on Mapnik and software that uses those tiles, it doesn't show any map data, so the name seemed like the only way for it to display what it really was. Let me know if that's a problem.
it shows now -- several rows of towers/masts, which i agree appear different from what i would expect, but that would be lack of a better icon at present (the tower icons are also relatively new).
now that i actually bothered to view the aerials, i see they are c-band sized ground-level parabolic probably-geostationary dishes, so a better icon for the particular type, probably resembling a typical offset ku-band home-dish would be better here, if someone takes the time to create one for this type of case.
by the way, i see there appears to be a mistaken building tag on the lattice mast supported by the guy wires, that has the same icon but lacks a name.
Is that tower just a free standing tower instead of a guyed tower?
As far as the dishes, I found I could change them from masts to antennas, and there was a tag for satellite dishes. Let me know if that works or if there's a better point type I can select in the iD editor.
Roy
i see you changed these to dishes -- with the drawback that now they are not rendered at all after the map tiles are refreshed, nor do the descriptive ``names'' appear at all.
good job in finding out the different terms. i will have to research them, in part because of a somewhat heated discussion in mailing list tagging@ (i believe) happening now.
i find it interesting that the significantly tall guyed mast, now the only thing here rendering, only appears at zoomlevel 18 and up, despite the aerial imagery giving me the impression of being of noteworthy height (the view angle makes determining its detailed function difficult), while not too far to the north, there is what i am guessing is a much shorter handy mast, icon seen from at least z13, which is where i expect this one to be visible.
i guess it is back to the drawing board for now until parabolic dishes get their own icon, which for installations like this, they deserve.
Ya I noticed that they stopped getting rendered. I changed them back so at least they show up.
On the last, I did find the fix to that. That tower to the north I changed the man_made "mast" to "communications_tower". if you look at a number of the towers north around the slippery rock, Barkeyville, and Grove city area, I did it to a lot of the ones there I added and they appear at the nicer low zoom levels.
