Also railway tracks - are there any remains under solar panels? Or were there fully removed and only old maps and aerial images and old photos record their former existence?
Are you aware of situation in this specific case? No remains are visible in aerial images.
Tracks that are completely overbuilt and gone without traces should be deleted.
And anyway, this specific switches are marked as operational what makes no sense.
Looking once more on aerial images it is visible that they removed rails and sleepers
"Saxony historical aerial imagery 2005" shows process as it was happening with piles of sleepers.
It seems that switches are clearly not existing anymore.
Is there any trace of rails themselves like embankments or ballast?
If there are traces - can you upload image of it, preferably to Wikimedia Commons?
There are still enough traces of the former track systems, switches, sleeper lines, signals, etc. at the marshalling yard:

also in the section now with solar panels?
Yes, also there in the area of the fenced-in solar system.
Do you have photo of that state?
Looking at old aerials it seems that they collected old railway tracks and sleepers and removed them from this area.
What is remaining there now after solar farm was created?
For example: what kind or recognizable remains is left after https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/6668112855 switch?
What is left from https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/725916595 rail?
The solar park is fenced in, you cannot get onto the site there, but the solar system has a permit for 20 years, the area can then be used again for railway purposes, the two access bridges are still there.

It is precisely for such things that we have the Lifecycle prefix! See https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Lifecycle_prefix
For me, all current editor programmes must be able to deal with this by now (!!!) and if it is done via filters.
Deleting is no solution!!!

Fully gone objects without traces can and should be deleted from OSM.
If sole remaining trace is "the area can then be used again for railway purposes" and documentation in old maps then switches are ineligible for being mapped in OSM, also when prefixes are used.
OSM is for mapping current state.
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Open_Historical_Map is a better fit for mapping fully gone objects
If you see it that way, why is there a lifecycle prefix?
OpenHistoricalMap is not a solution here, as the reference and the connection between the real and the superstructure is lost!
> If you see it that way, why is there a lifecycle prefix?
For temporary mapping objects still visible on recent aerial images.
For example, just demolished railway can be mapped with demolished: or razed: prefix and then deleted once aerial imagery updates
I still don't see a mistake here! Everything is recorded according to Wiki! I also warn against deleting data here!
That is why I am closing the note!
https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/6655457819
are there any whatsoever on-the-ground traces of this railway switch?
Have you mapped based on old maps of this location or outdated aerial imagery or based on current state of this solar park?
> Everything is recorded according to Wiki!
Which wiki page claims that mapping fully gone objects is OK?
note that current aerial imagery no longer shows switches or tracks, but just solar panels and grass
> I also warn against deleting data here!
Given that at least some people from local community are against AND I have not surveyed this location, I will not delete this here.
I just wanted to make you aware that anyone can delete objects without traces, also railways. And suggest to map then in OHM other project as they can be deleted from OSM at any time.
And if someone can survey this location and discover that no traces whatsoever are left of switches and railways: in such case this objects should be deleted.
I see no further need for disscussion here! The local mappers have decided how they want to capture it. That must be respected!
