Sorry about this misadventure, hope you’re fine. Does Maps.me allow to travel in road “under construction”?

Was it this bridge? https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/770390523 because it seems correctly mapped: from this point to the south, the road is indicated “under construction”. https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/871679625#map=15/10.2836/-84.4631&layers=N

Hi benoitdd, Yes, this was the bridge where we decided not to follow that road any further, but until then the road was also not ready, it was nicely paved but not marked yet and there were no exits - or only dirt roads leading into limbo. The problem was that a middle separation was already installed, so we could not just turn, We managed to leave by one of these rough exits and went over small roads back to Quesada, where we took the 141 to Naranjo. Regards, Eva

Maps.me has a function to enable/disable navigation over unpaved roads, but it is not very useful to disable this in Costa Rica as many roads are unpaved. I did not find an option to avoid roads under construction.

I have tested this with Organic Maps, the privacy-friendly fork of maps.me, and it does not route through the part tagged as construction.

Would you say that the road north of this place : https://osm.org/go/YF7uAyfUE–?m= is incorrectly tagged ? From the aerials it seems there are proper exits, but it’s hard to be sure.

Regards.

Unfortunately, the link does not work for me.

Indeed, short links don’t seem to work anymore.

I‘d say the route is incorrectly tagged from Florencia southwards.

From recent satellite views (Google Maps, 2021), it seems that the road is marked (and used) down to this roundabout : https://www.openstreetmap.org/?mlat=10.34018&mlon=-84.44424#map=17/10.34018/-84.44424&layers=N

Does that makes sense to you ?

The part south of this point was tagged as not in construction anymore one year ago, by joserrg12 in changeset #94116627 .

You might want to contact him before correcting the data.

Best regards.

Hi H@mlet, yes that makes absolutely sense. I do not rememeber exactly the position as we suddenly became suspicious while driving, but it is very likely that this is the place, where the “under construction”-part started. As I am not a regular user and have only little experience how to use opentretmaps, I would prefer not to tag or untag something myself for fear of botching it. Furthermore I do not know how to contact joserrg12. Can you do me a favour and pass this conversation on to him? Many thanks, regards, Eva

Sure, I’ll do that.
