Mapping for Improving Public Health Delivery

Posted by olub on 6 November 2015 in English.

My first contact with HOT was when eHealth Africa Foundation decided to map the road network in 10 states of North Nigeria for their Polio eradication project, importing also their huge ground-collected database to OSM, like placename, health facilities, residential areas, boundaries and so on. One of the biggest import of data to OSM in the developing world so far. Since then, i have been very enthusiastic in promoting HOT/OSM within the organization and spreading the word around the Nigerian community, like attending Open Data meetings inside Nigeria, posting messages in the social media.

I have been opportune to train university students on mapping on OSM as well as training my colleagues. I attended the inaugural HOT Summit in Washington DC where i deliver one of the keynotes address as well as the inaugural Activation training in Tanzania

I continue to spread the news about HOT and how impacting and helpful the community is, as well as striving to grow HOT/OSM in Nigeria.
